Apple and quince are coolingly laced with mint and wintergreen (decidedly reminiscent of the corresponding Bernkasteler) but also
quite perky and bright but finishes both sweet and savoury and long
coming from Alta Mesa vineyard (Santa Barbara County)
licorice and vanilla notes add complexity
fleshy and already delicious
Benjamin Leroux, Savigny Beaune Rouge Vintage:2015 Apple and quince are coolingly(mostly from Les Fourneaux with declassified 1er Hauts Jarrons as well). There is enough reduction to suppress the underlying fruit though there is very good density to the subtle mineral inflected flavors that deliver excellent length for a villages level wine on the balanced if mildly rustic finish. Very good quality here and the influence of the 1er is evident. Note that I would suggest decanting this if youre going to open a bottle young. 89 2022+
